Thursday’s session has many many interesting and relevent speakers.
Liz King and Paul Hobson from Cancer Council NSW.
An increase engagement in sun protection around Aquatic Centre’s can do a lot to reduce future skin cancer risk, particularly amongst children, UV exposure in childhood significantly increases skin cancer risk later in life. This presentation will briefly cover why UV protection is so important, what works, and invite conference participants to share insights on what approaches they think would be most helpful in shaping a new approach to UV protection amongst public pools.
We are proud to have Bernie Shakeshaft from BackTrack Youth Works speaking at our conference. Bernie is the founder and CEO of BackTrack in Armidale NSW. He has spent the past 25 years working and living out his passion ….catching wild dogs and wild kids. For many years he lived in the Northern Territory learning his trade in remote areas, learning the lessons of life in the bush and surrounded by wise and skillful Aboriginal and old school stockmen.
Bernie works with the most disadvantaged young people in our communities. His vision is to keep them alive, out of jail, and chasing their hopes and dreams.
BackTrack has won many awards for their work with our youth culminating in a Documentary last year. ( we urge you to go to the website and have a look.)
Bernie will hopefully give delegates an insight and a better understanding on ways to communicate with the youth at our centres and the wider community.
Red Zone Training
An intense style of training that re-creates as many aspects of an actual emergency in the pool as possible. Gary Johnson from See Clearly Now, will explain how Red Zone Training will test procedures, enhance skills, build teams and develop trust within your staff. A must see presentation.
